This Sunday the cycling world will turn its attention to the Flanders region of Belgium for the second “Monument” of the 2019 season: the Ronde van Vlaanderen. To get you in the mood, here’s a selection of images from recent decades of this wonderful and historic race. Enjoy!
Over the past couple weeks we’ve seen the usual build-up to “Vlaanderens mooiste” (“Flanders’ best”) including the E3 BinckBank Classic, Gent-Wevelgem, and Dwars door Vlaanderen. But this Sunday it’s time for the real deal: a 270km race from Antwerp to Oudenaarde with 17 climbs. The last two ascents, the Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg, have a tendency to decide the race.
