Female emancipation has often passed through the use of the bicycle. The ability to move independently marked a turning point in the fight for women’s rights. Even today in many countries of the world it is forbidden by law for women to ride bikes freely.
In Afghanistan, some girls ride cycling every day, going against prejudices. They are intent on changing things and fighting for what they want. Next year will be Afghan cycles , a documentary film directed by Sarah Menzies that tells the courage and stories of these women. The Reuters video.
