Mid-way through stage 6 of Tirreno Adriatico EF Nippo’s Simon Carr collided with a traffic island. As the Peloton was strung out with over 50km to go riders swerved around the removable traffic calming device. Unfortunately the 22-year-old Brit smashed into an unmarked cone at full speed as he followed the rider’s wheel in front of him. Carr was able to remount his Cannondale and continue the race. He started the day in 22nd place, 14:49 behind race-leader Tadej Pogacar.
Scary crash for Carr. Eurosport NL rightly notices that, especially on these local laps, they should have haybaled that island. He’s back on his bike! #TirrenoAdriatico pic.twitter.com/JIqUF84rGM
