SHIMANO S-PHYRE RC902
Shimano’s latest top-of-the-line shoe is used by WorldTour teams Jumbo Visma, Team Sunweb and Arkea Samsic. Designed with performance in mind, the S-Phyres weigh 475 grams per pair. Instead of a traditional tongue design, Shimano adopted a 360-degree Surround Upper, which wraps around the foot to provide even pressure across.
Legacy Italian shoemaker Sidi turned 60 in 2020, and to celebrate, Sidi unveiled the lightest shoes to be featured in their current catalog (at 490 grams per pair for size 43), the Sidi Sixty. Popular for the durability and style of their road shoes, Sidi’s iconic stitching and proprietary Tecno 4 retention dial system are featured on the Sixty.
The Carbon G.Chrono has gotten a facelift in the last year with an all-new carbon sole and updated upper. Two Boa L6 dials close the microfiber upper evenly along your foot for a secure and comfortable feel. The G.Chronos hit the scales at 586 grams.
Available in tan or black, the lace-up GR2 shoes have a two-bolt cleat pattern and use a nylon composite sole mated with a Tachyon rubber tread with optional toe studs for added climbing traction.
Giro has accessories for nearly every cycling need. Their latest gravel-focused shoe hits the scales at 708 grams per pair (size 43) and uses carbon-composite two-bolt plates with dual-injected rubber outsoles. Reinforced heel and toe sections improve walkability for when your ride is more hiking than biking.
The DMT KM1 was originally born with cross-country and marathon racing in mind. Using the knowledge and experience of team riders Tiago Ferreira and Hans Becking, DMT pushed the limits of material, comfort and performance for a gravel-friendly show with their new knit KM1. The KM1 has a single IP1 BOA dial with micro-adjust in both directions. A pair tipped our scales at 657 grams.
